Moderna states that she has not found a link between shots and heart inflammation.

Modana has not found a link between the Covid-19 vaccine and the rare cases of cardiac inflammation reported in young people who received the shot, the company said Friday.

A Massachusetts-based biotechnology company said it made a conclusion after “carefully reviewing the previously available safety data of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine for cases of myocarditis and / or pericarditis.” It was.

“The company continues to closely monitor these reports and is actively working with public health and regulators to further assess the issue,” he said in a statement.

A spokesperson for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The CDC Advisory Board held an emergency meeting on June 18, with rare but higher than expected cardiac inflammation between the ages of 16 and 24 after receiving a second dose of Pfizer or Modena’s Covid-19 vaccine. Discuss the report.

CDC officials said Thursday that authorities had reported 275 cases of myocarditis or pericarditis of that age group as of May 31, more than expected 10 to 102 cases. This condition includes inflammation of the heart muscle and the lining around it.

Dr. Tom Shimabukuro of the CDC’s Vaccination Safety Agency said at a meeting of the FDA’s Vaccine and Related Biopharmaceutical Advisory Board that there was a “clear imbalance.” This group gathered to discuss the safety issues surrounding the use of the Covid-19 vaccine in 6-month-old children.

The CDC’s Vaccine Safety Group said last month that it was investigating the inflammatory status of the hearts of “relatively few” people who were vaccinated with Covid. Authorities say it is not yet known if the condition is really vaccine-related.

Some of the reported cases may be other than myocarditis or pericarditis as a result of further investigation, Shimabukuro said Thursday.

Officials say the majority of reported cases are male and most appear mild. According to a CDC presentation at a meeting on Thursday, 81% of the 270 people who developed the condition and were discharged were fully recovered. As of May 31, officials said 15 people were hospitalized and 3 were in the intensive care unit.

No association has been found between the vaccine and the condition, but health experts say it is common to find rare side effects after the vaccine or drug has been administered to the general public. The United States distributes millions of Covid vaccines, which help reduce new cases and hospitalizations across the country.
