The Yankees beat ninth-placed Glebber Torres 2-1 at the end of the game. New York had three hits a night after scoring just five in the first game.

King (2-1) Miller made 14 1/3 consecutive shots without allowing the run to hit the center 1-0 fast to take the lead in two runs. The Yankees’ right-hand man did not refuse to run from Toronto on April 11 after an RBI double by George Springer.

King Jordan relieved Montgomery after Jonah Heim opened the shot with a double to the left. King Kole Calhoun, Nathaniel Lowe and retired Andy Ibanez moved Heim to third place. Heim scored in the wild, one step ahead of Miller’s homer.

A rare ineffective walk raised King’s ERA from 0.51 to 1.42.

Eli White also won Texas for the fifth time in six games.

Giancarlo Stanton scored a two-run homer in the second game. New York lost only 14 games.

Texas starter Glenn Otto allowed him two runs and two tackles last July against his former team-mate Joey Gallo. He hit two, went two, and Stanton retired his last seven shots after a 461-foot drive hit a Texas bullpen in the third.

Montgomery allowed two runs and four shots in more than six shots. It was the 22nd time that a New York star had allowed two or less wins this year.

Garrett Richards (1-1) followed Otto in the sixth and Miller won when he entered the house. Dennis Santana retired Aaron Judge and finished seventh, Brett Martin threw a perfect eighth and Joe Barlow finished ninth for the fourth rescue.

Torres’ seventh game in his career gave the Yankees their third win of the year. He tied John King (1-1) to a short balcony in the right field.

Manager Aaron Boone said, “The bigger the situation, the more it seems to have increased the concentration level a bit.” “On a cold day there, it was nice to see him stick one.”

Rangers starter Dane Dunning lost no hit offer to infield singles by Judge to open his sixth.

Gerrit Cole allowed 6 1/3 shots and five shots for New York. He hit 10 shots, went one, and hit the season’s highest 114 yards, reaching 100.6 mph. Jonathan Loáisiga followed Kolu with 1 2/3 shot. Clay Holmes (3-0) worked around Mitch Garver’s double in the ninth.

Rangers: RHP Josh Sborz was recalled as the 27th man to double from Triple-A Round Rock.

Yankees: OF Tim Locastro (strain on left) has been ruled out for 10 days with a hamstring injury and will be sidelined for several weeks. Locastro said he was injured when he stole a second as a pinch-runner in the ninth shot, which won 3-2 in Toronto on Monday. … RHP Ron Marinaccio was recalled from Triple-A Scranton / Wilkes-Barre and Boone said the Yankees would keep an extra pitcher in the opening of a four-game series in Chicago on Thursday. … OF Estevan Florial was added to the roster as the 27th player and started the second game.

NEXT: Texas RHP Jon Gray (0-1, 7.50) faces New York LHP Nestor Cortes (1-1, 1.82 ERA) on Monday afternoon.
