‘And we rarely whisper about it. Honestly, we don’t go into this work as activists and leaders, but rather what we can do to love our children, see them, keep them safe, and keep them safe. I do this as a parent who does all I can.

“This is the value of doing it in a way that builds bridges, doesn’t fan the flames of hatred and division, and doesn’t allow lawmakers and the justice system to look away when black transgender people are under attack. It’s a conversation with someone,” she added.
