Michael McWhorter’s video on TikToker crowdsources social justice online

Michael McWhorter took to TikTok for a silly lip sync video. After gaining a sizable following, he turned to misinformation and helped track down bad guys.

When the popular TikToker reposted a video showing an indigenous woman being attacked in Canada and asked police what they were doing, they responded online within hours.

Ottawa police quickly explained that they had arrested a 37-year-old woman for the attack and charged her with assault, and that they were “taking this investigation very seriously.”
