Berlin (Reuters) -Mercedes-Benz customers face waiting for orders for more than a year due to production interruptions due to chip shortages, Daimler CEO Ora Carenius said in an interview on Friday in Germany I told the newspaper.
“While the demand for Mercedes-Benz is enormous, unfortunately there are strict limits,” he told Frankfurter Allgemeinezeitung. “On some models, the wait time is longer than desired, and in some cases it can take a year or more.”
Kaellenius reiterated previous predictions that the chip supply problem that plagues automakers around the world will continue until 2023, as structural problems and pandemic blockades continue in major supplier countries.
