Let’s see what’s happening around the majors on Monday:

Hold their breath

Streak’s New York Mets anticipates the latest information on Jacob DeGrom’s injury after Ace’s pitcher schedules an MRI.

The two Cy Young Award winners were pulled apart by the tightness on the right side after five innings on Sunday due to a return from problems in similar areas. The bullpen beat Arizona 4-2, giving Mets five consecutive victories since August 2019.

“It’s painless, it’s just tight,” said manager Luis Rojas. “That’s what he said to our trainers.”

A 32-year-old right-handed player skipped the turn before the rotation and stopped a 10-day severance due to a problem with the right rat. Rojas said lateral tension, centered on the lower right corner of the back, seems to be another issue.

Before Sunday, DeGrom had 0.51 ERA and 59 strikeouts in 35 overwhelming innings.

“I want to sit and wait and see what it is, so I can plan the next thing as a group,” Rojas said.

Red Sox ROMP

Rafael Devers has another chance to dismantle the Camden Yard as Boston concludes the series with the Orioles.

The Red Sox are 6-0 in Baltimore this year, and the Divers are a big reason. He hit 5 home runs with 13 RBIs in these games, 23-9 (.391). Boston holds the highest major record at ages 22-13 a year later, after turning 24-36 in the season when the pandemic was shortened.

Left-handed Martin Perez (0-2, 4.40 ERA) starts for Boston. Jorge Lopez (1-3, 6.49), who allowed seven runs in four innings with the Red Sox on April 11, pitched to the Orioles, the worst 4-13 in the major leagues.

Rebound Rangers

Adolis GarcĂa and Texas are trying to maintain their recent success when visiting San Francisco.

With the Rangers defeating Seattle on Sunday and winning three times in a row, Garcia hit the team’s ninth home run, scoring the best five runs of his career. Texas improved from May 1st to 7-2 and returned to .500 for the first time since April 9th.

Kyle Gibson (3-0, 2.40 ERA) will begin the first match of a two-league match at Oracle Park. He is in the top 10 of the ERA among AL starters, despite giving up five runs without getting out of the first inning of the shortest opening round in franchise history.

Need a timeout

The Kansas City Royals started last week with the best major record and played seven games in a row at Kauffman Stadium. They left the house in a very different way.

Whit Merrifield and Royals dropped 0-7 on homestands, including a 28-inning scoreless streak, four times on the Cleveland and three more on the White Sox. Overall, Kansas City lost eight straight games.

“We need to keep working and teaching, which will be rewarded,” said manager Mike Matheny. “Probably there is no quick solution other than fighting again on holidays and Tuesdays.”

After the Monday holiday, the Royals will begin a seven-game road trip in Detroit.
