The Incredible New 2022 Tundra – What Does It Have in Store for You?

The Tundra took the US pickup truck market by storm when it debuted in the 90s. This is because it had all that made American trucks great, but with extra touches of Japanese reliability and cost-effective genuine Toyota parts.

This new Tundra is set to do the same. It has a completely redesigned look; internally and externally, and a longer truck bed for the crew cab. There are new powertrains, including a brand-new hybrid setup.

Here’s what more you can expect:

The 2022 Toyota Tundra: Features (H2)

The 2022 Tundra was revealed at the NAIS. The full-size pickup comes with 6 trims, which includes the monstrous Tundra TRD Pro. The following are some of its highlights:

Powertrain and Fuel Economy (H3)

The new Tundra doesn’t have a V8 engine. Instead, you get a turbocharged V6 engine (twin- turbo) making 389 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. The other engine is a hybrid V6 that makes 437 horsepowers and 583 torques.

They’ve gotten rid of the five- and six-speed automatics; replacing them with a 10-speed direct shift transmission. You get rear- and four-wheel-drive drivetrains. This new truck can accelerate to 60 mph in 6.2 seconds.

The hauling or towing capacity is 12,000lbs and the payload capacity is of 1940lbs. The maximum fuel economy can be 24 mpg combined. The hybrid truck should exceed this massively.

Interior and Technology

The new Tundra has a more charming interior than the outgoing model. The cabin is huge and the materials used in it are nice. There’s a plenty of storage in the form of cubbies. The upholstery gets better as you move up the trims.

You get an 8-inch infotainment screen, upgradable to 6 more inches. Also included is Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for more entertainment. The buttons on the steering wheel can be used to control the setup.

As far as safety is concerned, there’s a plenty of standard equipment. For example, you get warnings for forward collisions and lane departure. There’s automated emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and auto high beams.

Exterior and Driving

The 2022 Tundra has been designed masterfully as it looks quite futuristic and has a great presence. The TRD packages take it up a notch with the wheels, the suspension and the bumpers.

Apart from the bold styling, the truck is not available as a two-door work truck aka the regular cab. So, you only get to choose between the 4-door crew cab and the double cab versions.

The new truck comes with spring coils as opposed to the leaf spring setups on its rivals. This improves its handling and ride quality by quite a bit. The truck is decent as far as quickness is concerned.

Price and Warranty

The basic Tundra in the US should be priced at around $37k. This pricing can go up all the way in the mid-50k dollars range for the 1794 Edition trim. Toyota offers a good warranty for the Tundra.

You get coverage for 3 years or 36k miles, whichever comes first. The powertrain warranty will cover you for 5 years or 60k miles. You also get free maintenance with genuine parts for the first 2 years or 25k miles.

Verdict

The new Tundra is a vehicle that is beastly yet refined at the very same time. Toyota have stepped up their game as they’ve realized how fast the pickup market is moving. This model will bolster their sales unlike the last one.

It’s a shame that the V8 has been scrapped but you do get two great V6 engines, including a hybrid. The new suspension and interior do wonders for the feel of the truck. There’s a ton of safety equipment as standard.

Should you get this truck and maintain it with genuine Toyota parts, it is poised to last for generations. Keep your Tundra truck in shape by visiting here for parts: https://sts-global.com/toyota-parts and only time will tell how the third generation Tundra fares up.
