Lis Lakao, 29, recreates the recognizable features of celebrities such as Gordon Ramsay, Dolly Parton, the Queen, and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. She was very good at tricking her face-recognition iPhone into making her friends think she was one of the A-listers.

Lacao carefully transforms into each celebrity over 4-8 hours. In doing so, Lacao loves to go beyond lockdown to gain 25,000 followers on Instagram and constantly improve her make-up skills.
“I know I did a good job when the phone didn’t recognize my face and let me in,” said La Khao, Bromley, Kent. “I tricked my boyfriend into thinking I was Tiger King’s Joe Exotic.”
Lacao said her friends now “know what to expect”, but while still looking like a celebrity, they find it “interesting” for FaceTime.
“I love making changes. It takes me hours, but time is just flying because I’m having so much fun,” she said.

Lacao became a make-up artist six years ago and last year began to challenge herself to become an A-listers. Surprised by how popular social media has been since she started making videos, she quickly attracted over 25,000 followers.
“I was surprised by the reaction because I was just starting it for fun,” she said.
Lacao uses highlights, contours, eyeshadow, and shading to create transformations, spending at least a few hours on each look. She looks at some pictures of the celebrity before drawing her face to resemble the celebrity’s face.
“One of my favorites was David Bowie,” she said. “I’m a big fan of Bowie, so it was cool.”

Lacao is currently being asked by her followers to perform a particular star, and recently created an look modeled after chef Gordon Ramsay.
“I love doing this and will continue after the blockade,” Lakao said. “It motivated me, and I love trying to improve my skills.
“The goal is that my phone doesn’t always recognize me and keeps me out.”
Following her success, La Khao said she was inspired to move her career into the film industry.
