Macy’s Fireworks Festival on July 4th Returns to Face-to-face Viewing in New York City

Macy’s will host its annual Independence Day fireworks display in New York City next month to show that American life is returning to some normal state as local COVID regulations are relaxed nationwide. Shows two signs.

Macy’s has held a fireworks festival on July 4th each year since 1976, but this year’s event will feature the largest fireworks display in history, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said at a press conference Thursday. Clothing retailers said Thursday they plan to launch more than 65,000 fireworks from five barges at 9:25 pm on July 4 for New Yorkers and a nationally aired audience. It was.

“People have been vaccinated on such an extraordinary scale, which allows us to have many, many people in attendance,” said De Blasio.

Macy’s employees are excited to use the 25-minute fireworks show as an informal kick-off for retailers to the summer of 2021, said event executive producer Wilcos.

Coss and other event organizers have created a display area for those who have been vaccinated with COVID-19 and those who have not. If vaccinated, the viewing area will be along Franklin D. Roosevelt East River Drive in Manhattan, allowing spectators to watch the game without wearing masks or socially distant. Unvaccinated viewers will be directed to the Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens waterfronts. Macy’s does not say whether those participants need to wear masks.

Macy’s Fireworks is one of many large crowd events where the city emits a green light after seeing increased immunization rates and fewer new COVID cases nationwide. For example, last month more than 135,000 fans saw the Indianapolis 500 in person. In Chicago, the Lollapalooza Festival will be held directly next month. The Texas State Fair in Dallas in September will also be held directly.

The New York Fireworks Festival has returned to its normal format this year after using a slightly controversial method last year. Until July 4, last year, Macy’s sporadically launched fireworks in different districts and at different times each day.The company said it did so to prevent large numbers of people from gathering during the height. Coronavirus pandemicSome residents have stated that this method is insensitive to veterans with post-traumatic stress disorders.

“Last year we had to do it in a very different way,” said De Blasio. “It was great, but it wasn’t the same luxury we’re used to.”

The event will also feature music performances by Black Pumas, Coldplay, OneRepublic and Reba McEntire. According to Mayor De Blasio, another fireworks display will be held on Coney Island in Brooklyn following the Macy’s event.
