Leaders report 1,359 new COVID-19 cases, 6 new virus-related deaths

San Antonio – Mayor Ron Nirenberg of San Antonio and Judge Nelson Wolf of Bexar County updated the community on Tuesday night’s daily briefing on the local response to COVID-19.

As of Tuesday, Nirenberg reported a total of 96,140 COVID-19 cases and a total of 1,435 deaths in Bexar County. This is an increase of 1,359 new cases. Six new deaths have been reported today.

The 7-day moving average of cases is 943.

City officials also reported that 800 patients were hospitalized, 270 were in the intensive care unit, and 134 were on ventilator. There are 10% of staffed beds available and 59% of ventilators available.

There have been 120 hospitalizations within the last 24 hours. According to Nirenberg, this is the highest number of hospitalizations per day since the pandemic began.

The risk level of COVID-19 schools remains “high” and it is not recommended for most students to study directly.
