LAPD union leader moves to bypass DA and suspects police murder to federal government

The head of the union on behalf of the Los Angeles Police Department is a sheriff who supports the federal authorities and bypasses the district attorney after arresting three alleged gang members and a woman associated with an off-duty shooting death. He praised the movement of the department. A policeman looking for a house with his girlfriend.

Alex Villanueva of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office has filed a proceeding with the Justice Department in a move deemed denial in response to a directive issued by district attorney George Gascon.

“I think this is a brave move,” Craig Larry, president of the Los Angeles Police Department, told Fox News. “I think he did that because he knew that DA Gascon wasn’t going to submit gang enhancements or gun enhancements and wouldn’t chase these people probably because of the death penalty.”

Since taking office in December 2020, Gascon has instructed prosecutors to only seek increased sentencing for certain crimes. He takes a strict criminal policy that supporters exacerbate racial and other inequality in the criminal justice system.

On Thursday, the sheriff’s department announced Rubby De La Rosa Rios, 29 years old. Ernest Cisneros, 22 years old. Jesse Contreras, 34 years old. And Rios’ girlfriend Haley Marie Grisham, 18, was arrested this week and charged with the death of LAPD police officer Fernando Arroyos. A 27-year-old off-duty officer was killed Monday in South Los Angeles during a robbery attempt while looking home with his girlfriend.

Officials said Arroyos was shot after Rios and Cisneros confronted the couple. They have been charged with violent crimes using rackets that carry minimal life without parole because Arroyos was killed during a robbery with two silver chains around his neck and a purse taken. ..

According to officials, a shooting battle was fought between Arroyo and the suspect, and Cisneros was beaten. The gang, which allegedly has three male suspects, has been the subject of a federal organized crime investigation in the past.

His special adviser, Alex Bastian, said the case had not been presented to Gascon’s office and he had no chance to prosecute the suspect.

“We support the federal authorities taking up the case and keep in touch with all parties involved,” Bastian said in a statement. “The case was shown to have been referred to the indicting federal authorities, so we did not have the opportunity to consider the case.”

As crime continues to surge in and around Los Angeles, Larry brings a more serious case to federal prosecutors if Gascon continues to enforce orders that adversaries only bold criminals. I expected it to be.

“I think you’ll get a fairer result as long as the judgment is given,” Larry said.

Sheriff is a critic of Gascon’s voice, and he faces a second recall effort over his prosecution reforms.

At a press conference Thursday night announcing his arrest, he challenged the allegation that he had not been consulted with the district attorney’s office.

“We definitely talked to the local DA, but their reaction wasn’t satisfactory for the seriousness of the situation,” said Villanueva. “They were in line with a special order from the district attorney. Their plan was to prosecute a simple murder, with gun enhancements, gang enhancements, nothing. It was the fall of this crime. I didn’t actually cover it. “

Fox News contacted him by email and text message, but did not get a reply.

Prior to becoming the Supreme Prosecutor of Los Angeles County, Gascon was a district attorney in San Francisco, a police chief in Mesa, Arizona, and a deputy chief of LAPD. Mr. Larry, who has been in the department for over 40 years, said others said his time as a police officer at Gascon was primarily managerial.

“I think he really didn’t know what these officers were doing every day,” Larry said.
