Kevin Durant: Top 5 trading destinations, from Boston to New Orleans

Almost a month after Kevin Durant formally request trade from Brooklyn NetsThe saga continues, as neither team comes up with a genuine deal for a 12-time NBA All-Star.

Durant, 33, has spent three seasons in Brooklyn, but has only played the last two, missing the entire 2019-20 season with an Achilles injury. He averaged 29.9 points, 7.4 rebounds and 6.4 assists last season.

There’s been a lot of chatter about where Durant would land if the Nets traded him, especially with reports that more than half of the league’s 30 teams have made some sort of investigation into the superstar.

On “First Things First,” Nick Wright revealed the five teams he would most like to see joining Durant if he were traded, and he explained the trading packages each team could offer to make it happen.

Let’s dive into the list.

Nick Wright reveals five teams he believes are the best fit for Kevin Durant if he is sold from the Brooklyn Nets.

5. Oklahoma City Thunder

Wright’s thoughts: “My personal dream, Oklahoma City. … What is the trade like? They still [Shai Gilgeous-Alexander]. They take care of Chet [Holmgren]. They give you [Josh] dizzy,… [Lu] Dora,… [Aleksej Pokusevski]. They give you [Klutch Sports] client [Darius] Bazley, 11th pick and 12th pick of this year’s draft, Jalen Williams and then four first-round picks (’23, ’24, ’25 and ’26). … It won’t happen, but it will be fun.”

4. New York Knicks

Wright’s thoughts: “Why go hunting Donovan Mitchell when you can go hunting for Kevin Durant? … What kind of trade is that? RJ Barrett, my pal Quentin Grimes, Obi Topin, Cam Reddish, Derrick Rose and four first round picks (’23, ’25,’ 26 and ’28). The Jazz don’t want RJ Barrett. Do the Nets want RJ Barrett? Maybe.”

3. Golden Country Soldier

Wright’s thoughts: “Now, for the good stuff. … This is what we call, ‘Pulling the pin on Draymond [Green] the grenade before it exploded.’ Correctly. Kevin Durant’s ultimate justification! Draymond Green, get out. KD, at. Jordan Poole, [Jonathan] Kuminga, who? [Chris] Broussard told me is the star of the future, Moses Moody [and] the first two unprotected round picks (’27 and ’29). They’re Nets — at least have a meeting about this.”

2. Boston Celtics

Wright’s thoughts: “We know the parameters— Jaylen [Brown] plus Marcus Smart, [they’re] throw Payton Pritchard [and] the first few rounds of choice. That’s the trade I thought it would be, but it’s not my favourite.”

1. New Orleans Pelicans

Wright’s thoughts: “The swap that should have happened was the New Orleans Pelicans. The best player the Nets could accept would be Brandon Ingram. The most picks they would get would be from the Pelicans. We include Larry Nance Jr. and Herb Jones. That’s Herb Jones’ All-Rookie team. -Defensive future Herb Jones. Four first-round picks (’23, ’24, ’25 and ’26), and by the way, [the] The Pelicans could compete for the West very soon. KD as one. Zion [Williamson] as two. CJ [McCollum] as three. Geez.”
