Joshua ISD parents are demanding change after teachers resigned for school lunches

JOSUA, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) – Parents demanding the dismissal of the head of the school spoke again on Thursday, April 7, 2022, after the resignation of primary school teachers in connection with the school lunch.

Hoping to hear the voices of more than 50 parents and students, Joshua came together in front of an ISD board meeting.

Parents and students at Joshua ISD are holding a rally in support of teachers who resigned for school lunches.

Two of the parents who attended the rally said they moved to Joshua to take advantage of the school system, but now they live long enough.

“We’re screaming in our lungs, I’ve been in this area for two years,” said one of Joshua’s ISD parents. “We wanted help and felt that teachers were being insulted in the same way.”

After at least four primary school teachers resigned for school lunch. The decisions were made after district teachers were confronted with the results of a three-day survey, which found that students brought free lunches to teachers from the cafeteria where they would not eat.

Parents and students gathered to support Joshua ISD teachers.

Although the school board reported that the teachers had resigned voluntarily, the parents were dissatisfied and wanted an answer.

Stephanie Arredondo said, “I really hope this area will open their eyes. We wanted the supervisor removed immediately.”

They hope that their presence at the circuit assembly will send a message.

“We know it’s hard for them to make those decisions tonight, but we’re here and we want to know, we want the whole community to know these teachers, there are students, and this district deserves better,” Arredondo said.

The region said what sounded simple was actually very serious; fraud, theft and risking federal funds.

Kim Henderson, a former board member, said, “I think it’s very sad. I wish there was another way to do it, but not everyone is looking at the problem.” “The problem is that the federal government is always in our business. It was a federal rule.”

The National School Lunch Program for Texans is administered by the Texas Department of Agriculture.

Parents and students attend the open part of the Joshua ISD meeting.

The meeting was a closed executive meeting, with some believing the resignations would be discussed. Meanwhile, the district administration said that no decision would be made at the meeting and that it was held to provide the board with more information about what happened.
