San Antonio — Hunter Elb wants to build a new tradition at Texas A & M. Haslet, Texas is one of the new hires of Aggie’s Football in the 2022 class. When the group is finalized in February, it is expected to be the highest rated class since recruitment rankings began 20 years ago.
“Why not A & M? You don’t have to be Alabama or Georgia,” Elve said while practicing at the San Antonio All-American Bowl. “I committed very early on. I never thought I had the best class I’ve ever had.”
Erb committed to Texas A & M last February before officially permitting the trade in names, images and portraits. He said he believes NIL’s opportunities are influencing this year’s recruitment cycle, especially at the amount discussed.
“Look at Travis Hunter and get a million dollars to go to JSU [Jackson State University]”Mr. Elve said. “Once you get such money, it’s hard to turn it down. It’s a big factor in your recruitment.”
Texas A & M boosters are rumored to have committed more than $ 25 million to NIL transactions to boost recruitment both this year and in the future.
“NIL has been around for a long time, but it hasn’t surpassed the board,” Texas A & M coach Jimbo Fisher said on National Signature Day in December.
A University of Texas booster recently launched a program that pays $ 50,000 a year to scholarship-winning offensive linemen. This is part of the non-profit Horns with Heart initiative.
“I’m just a quiet guy, like being under the radar, but if A & M does something like Texas, I’ll be happy.”
Compensation for positions like offensive line could be the beginning of a new trend throughout the world of college football.

Prioritizing NIL opportunities will not only change the focus of university programs, but also how new employees see their potential in the same program. Huffman said that was part of the reason Texas A & M was able to land new employees from all over the country.
“Now no one cares about the facility. It doesn’t care about nutrition programs, strength and conditioning, or even depth charts,” Huffman said. “NIL has become more prominent because new employees want to know, but it has also become more prominent as coaches are trying to sell.”
Erb didn’t discuss potential NIL opportunities at the time of hiring, but is pleased to choose Texas A & M. This is due to the wide range of graduates inside and outside Texas.
He also believes that his chest-length hair could be part of a future deal.
“Probably some shampoo brands. I was able to be a big shampoo actor,” Erb said.
