HORRIFIC details have emerged of the rape and murder of a five-year-old boy after his mother and her boyfriend were charged over his death.
Authorities were called to a home in Maryland on July 22, and found the boy unresponsive.
He was taken to two different medical centers and pronounced dead at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC.
His name has not been released.
The mother’s boyfriend, Timothy Lee Haselden, was arrested on July 22 by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
He faces nine charges, including child abuse causing the death of a victim under the age of 13 and first- and second-degree rape, according to FOX5.
The boy’s mother, Catherine Thrasher, was arrested on July 25 by the sheriff’s office.
He faces multiple charges, including child abuse causing the death of a victim under the age of 13, child sexual abuse and assault.
Both are being held without bond at the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.
Court documents obtained by WUSA9 show Thrasher – who worked at a restaurant – called 911 on July 22 when the boy was not breathing.
Haselden called her when the boys went unanswered, according to WUSA9.
Emergency officials found the child with “various stages (both old and new/healing) of bruises all over her body” and evidence of a “possible skull fracture,” the documents state.
Investigators later determined the boy had been raped, according to WUSA9.
Emergency responders told detectives the child was autistic and there was evidence of strangulation.
It also determined there was “extensive internal and external blunt force trauma,” and that the boy had “multiple injuries to his body consistent with ongoing abuse,” the Hagerstown Herald-Mail reported.
An autopsy will be performed by the DC Office of the Medical Director.
Two other children were reportedly in the house when the five-year-old was found.
One child, a two-year-old boy, was also taken to a DC hospital and has been released.
Those children have been placed with the Washington County Department of Social Services, officials said.
During Haselden’s hearing, Washington County State’s Attorney Danielle Lackovic told a judge that there was evidence that those two children were also abused, Oxygen reported.
Thrasher and Haselden have lived in the house where the boy was found unresponsive for about five months.
He is not the boy’s father, according to court records.
Court records obtained by FOX5 show Haselden has a criminal record dating back to 2010, and several prior assaults.
