Michael Gargiulo, a serial killer called “Hollywood Ripper,” was sentenced to death. On Friday, Judge Larry Fiddler of the Los Angeles Superior Court ruled the crime as “malicious and horrifying.”
In 2019, Gargiuro was convicted of the murders of Ashley Elerin and Maria Bruno. Before making the ruling, I read a statement explaining the enormous losses that the criminal-affected individuals felt and still feel from Gargiuro’s actions.
The last time the victim Ashley Ellin was seen alive was her apartment manager, Mark Durbin. He gave an emotional testimony. Durbin explained the feeling of guilt he felt and that he wanted to do something different to save Elerin.
“As a kid, we’re afraid of monsters hiding under the bed, but we’re there because our parents don’t exist. I’m one step away from the hidden monsters and save them. I couldn’t, “Durbin said.
After being sentenced, Gargiuro continued to profess his innocence, claiming he was surrounded by “tunnel-vision detectives.” However, a Los Angeles jury admitted that Gargiuro was found guilty of two felony charges for one murder and one felony charge for attempted murder.
The attack occurred in the Los Angeles area between 2001 and 2008. In addition, Gargiuro will be handed over to Illinois shortly after being tried in 1993 for being involved in yet another murder in his hometown.
