New York (AP) — A live interview with Vice President Kamala Harris on “The View” on Friday after two talk show hosts learned that Harris had tested positive for COVID-19 before joining the set. I was suddenly late.

Co-host Sunny Hostin and guest host Ana Navarro stood at the table for the start of the show, but were then told to get off the set. Hostin and Navarro were vaccinated, their colleagues said.

Harris, who was supposed to be seated there, was instead interviewed from a distance from another room at ABC Studios in New York. She wasn’t in contact with either host who tested positive, according to White House officials.

Co-sponsors Joy Behar and Sara Haines remained on the set to conduct a truncated interview.

“Sunny and Anna are strong women, and I know they’re fine,” Harris said when she made her late appearance. “But it also really speaks to the fact that they are vaccinated and the vaccine makes all the difference, because otherwise they are worried about hospitalization and worse.”

The moment emphasized the constant danger of COVID-19 and what calmly reminds us of the reach of the virus.

It also threatened to overturn the Biden administration’s efforts to show progress in the fight against the virus. Just hours ago, President Joe Biden approved the doses of millions of elderly or other vulnerable Americans to those targeted by the COVID-19 booster shot the day after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention approved doses for millions of elderly or other vulnerable Americans. Prompted to get additional protection.
