Happy birthday, princess! Charlotte is seven years old when she poses with her new puppy Orla

Pretty as a photo among the blue spring bells of Norfolk, Princess Charlotte is a natural birthday girl in front of the camera.

And what a pleasure to see – in the photos taken by the Duchess of Cambridge today for her daughter’s seventh birthday today – for the first time a new beloved pet of the family.

Prince William and Kate have so far kept the identity of their new baby secret. But the Daily Mail may reveal that the small spaniel is named Orla.

Kate’s three photos of her enthusiastic daughter – a princess who loves ballet but can also help her brother George get money on the football field – captures her natural joy.

Princess Charlotte, who turns seven on May 2, has been pictured with her pet dog – her name has just appeared as Orla.

Laughing through the lens, Charlotte wears a blue blouse and sweater, holding a bunch of freshly picked daisies.

In the face, the fourth on the throne has a big brother with big brother George, but with his mother’s purple hair and green eyes.

The photos were taken at the family’s Anmer Hall over the weekend, and with them was the little Orla. The family was given to the family in the summer of 2020 by Duchess James Middleton’s brother. He proved to be a great source of comfort when he lost Lupo, the first black spaniel, in November 2020.

Kate and William have been in love with Lupo since she was adopted as a puppy in 2012, a year after she got married. However, they so jealously guarded her privacy that she initially refused to confirm her identity, let alone reveal her name, until Kate escaped in an incident called ‘Puppygate’.

While Lupo was an Italian “wolf”, Orla – whose name has also been preserved for two years – is of Celtic origin and means “golden princess”.

It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.

The wolf cocker spaniel was given to Kater by her brother James in 2012.

She initially raised a puppy from her dog Ella in 2011.

James kept one named Luna, but gave it to Lupo’s brother, Kater, Prince William, then a RAF search and rescue pilot, when he deployed to the Falklands.

Wolf often appeared in official Cambridge photographs, but died at the age of nine.

In an Instagram post, the family said, “It’s been at the heart of our family for the last nine years and we’re going to miss it a lot.”

The new Orla cub was also donated to Cambridges by James Middleton before Wolf died.

Now seven years old, Charlotte is likely to be seen in more royal engagements, such as in church services. He was joined by eight-year-old George, their great-grandfather, the Duke of Edinburgh, in March.

He is currently a student at Thomas’s prep school in south west London. But last month Mail revealed that she and Prince Louis, a younger brother of four, will be traveling with George to an exclusive school in Berkshire from September.

Next to the parents of the Duchess William and Kate, Michael and Carole Middleton, they have been looking for rural schools and new homes.

The couple wants to start a new life in the Duchess’s home county, giving their young family the best chance of having a fairly normal childhood while they can.

Anmer Hall was the perfect base when William East Anglia was working at Air Ambulance, now that he and his wife work full-time as royal queens, so it’s no longer practical to travel regularly to Norfolk on weekends.

Keeping all their children in the same school will also help strengthen their bond to one day meet the challenge of royal roles in the modern era.

Earlier this year Prince William revealed that one of the few things they struggle with is who chooses the music they listen to in the morning.

Charlotte, she said, “likes to run from the kitchen with her dresses and ballet and all.” He added: “It’s completely crazy that Louis is trying to do the same thing. It’s a very happy time for the kids to enjoy dancing, mixing and singing.”

She said her daughter likes to play Colombian pop star Shakira’s song Waka Waka.
