Governor Whitmer of the seven encouraged by the JFK Foundation

Boston – Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and six others who endangered their health and safety to help and protect others during the coronavirus pandemic will profile in courage next month. Winning the award, the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation announced on Tuesday.

The Foundation said in a statement that the winners, including grocery store owners, delivery drivers, nurses and activists, were selected from thousands of nominations submitted by people across the country.

“Today’s winners are endangering their lives to keep others safe. They give us all courage and give new meaning to President Kennedy’s legacy of public services,” he said. Caroline Kennedy, daughter of the president and honorary chairman of the Foundation, said.

The award is named after Kennedy’s 1957 Pulitzer Prize-winning book, Profiles in Courage.

The seven COVID-19 Courage Award winners will be honored with Senator Mitt Romney at a virtual ceremony airing on May 26th.

Romney is honored to be the only Republican to vote on the conviction of former President Donald Trump in his first impeachment trial.

Whitmer faced severe opposition to her measures to control the coronavirus in her home state, including armed protests at the State Capitol and plans to kidnap and kill her. Thirteen people, officials said, were indicted in connection with the plot, who said they were partly motivated by a grudge against pandemic restrictions.
