Earlier this week, the Governor said that 90% of hospitalizations for COVID-19 complications in the state were unvaccinated patients.
“The answer is simple for anyone asking when this will end, when we decide to do what we need to do to get it done,” he wrote in a statement. “The most influential tools to do that are free and widely available. Three safe and effective vaccines.”
Edwards also advised residents to stay socially distant and advised both vaccinated and unvaccinated residents to wear face masks indoors, issued last week by the Louisiana Department of Health. The recommendations to be made were repeated.

The Governor’s Office on Friday announced that two members of Edwards’ team had tested positive for COVID-19. “Both are in quarantine at home under the guidance of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Louisiana Department of Health,” he said in a statement.
