Governor of California writes a children’s book about dyslexia | National News

Democratic Newsome left California on Monday to begin this tour of New York in interviews with media across the country. He promised to donate all proceeds from the book to the International Association for Dyslexia.

Newsam said he made many mistakes at school because of dyslexia, isolating him and making reading uneasy. He often said he pretended to be ill in class to get out of reading.

But over time, Newsom said that making mistakes made him more resilient, making it a useful tool in the political world.

“The problem is that we’re in the racket. Whenever I make a mistake, I’m everywhere in the AP. And that’s difficult, isn’t it? And that’s why we’re cautious. But in that attention, it’s probably the biggest mistake in politics, and that’s why people can no longer bear (politicians), “Newsam said.

But Newsam said people with dyslexia are “mistake experts.”

“We are like professionals,” he said.

Newsam was unaware of dyslexia until he was 10 years old when he discovered a medical assessment of him in his mother’s room. His mother, who was single and had multiple jobs to support him and his sister, kept his diagnosis to protect him.
