FORT WORTH, Texas – If you’re on the road from Texas to Oklahoma or Louisiana, you can’t miss them: large, red highway signs that hire teachers for Fort Worth ISD.
“Yours the future is in a Fort Worth classroom“,” is written in large, bold font on the billboard.
According to the district, there is a high demand for teachers of bilingual education, mathematics, science and special education. FWISD officials said they are offering salaries ranging from $ 58,000 to $ 69,500, including recruitment bonuses and incentives starting at $ 2,000 for any teacher hired before May 1, 2022. Bonuses for bilingual employment are $ 5,000, and bonuses for Special Education, Mathematics and Science positions are $ 3,000.
Thus, to help spread the word, the district placed advertisements along Texas roads to neighboring states in the north and east. For several weeks, there have been seven digital and printed billboards in the district encouraging people to become teachers.
“This is another way to adapt our strategy to provide highly qualified teachers in every classroom,” said Raul Peña, FWISD’s Chief Talent Officer.
FWISD serves more than 76,000 students on 144 campuses. According to media reports, more than 11,000 people currently work in the region.
