Fake German heiress Anna Sorokin is making the most of her time under house arrest by posing for the camera in her grimy walk-up apartment in Manhattan while battling deportation.

“Definitely she won’t get a free pass,” Sandweg added. “She will continue to face deportation proceedings and her release will be closely monitored by the government.”

“Once you are under ICE custody, it is entirely up to ICE what happens next. Immigrants can be detained indefinitely without a judge reviewing whether or not they were,” she added.

“The prison where I am held is notorious for being understaffed. ICE can detain them for less.

“These detainees are now far removed from their local support system of friends and loved ones, and those fortunate enough to have access to legal counsel are deprived of the ability to communicate easily with them directly. Hearings held remotely are not suitable for defendants to consult with counsel during proceedings.
