Dallas Wings roster: Satou Sabally named All-WNBA First Team

Sabally had a phenomenal WNBA regular season, finishing in the top 10 in both scoring and rebounding.

ARLINGTON, Texas — The reigning Most Improved Player of the WNBA has another well-deserved accolade to celebrate. Dallas Wings star Satou Sabally has been named to the 2023 All-WNBA First Team – her first team honor.

Sabally had a phenomenal WNBA regular season, finishing in the top 10 in both scoring and rebounding.

The fourth-year veteran averaged 18.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.8 steals in 38 games, while shooting 43.5% from the field (a career high) and 36.1% from three-point range. She was just one of five players to average 18+ points and was one of nine players to record 40 or more points in a game this season too.

After coming off two straight seasons with injuries – this was the first year Sabally said she was pain free, and it liberated not only her but her gameplay.

After being named Most Improved Player last month, she said, “I just came in [this year] and I was ready.” She said she knew it was going to be a great season from “day one.”

Sabally was simply – balling out this year! She was the queen of double-doubles at 14, which was fifth-most in the league this season and also recorded her first-career triple-double in July 2023 against the Washington Mystics.

At the end of the season following the team’s exit interviews, Dallas Wings President & CEO Greg Bibb said, “I think folks finally got to see what we knew was there with Satou, which is a completely unique dynamic type of player that has the size to be effective inside and the athletic ability to be affective on the outside.”

“I think what you saw from Satou this year is just the very beginnings of scratching the surface of what she’s going to become in our league, which is I think an all-time great player,” Bibb continued.

Aside from being named WNBA MIP and now the All-WNBA team, Sabally is the Associated Press Most Improved Player and has been named to the Associated Press All-WNBA Second Team.

It was truly a magical season for the Wings’ “Unicorn.”
