After opening fire inside the store, a 26-year-old worker was shot dead.
Another 24-year-old woman was injured and is now in critical condition, Charles Hampton Jr. The Atlanta Police Deputy Chief said in a press conference today.
He was shot in front of his 5-year-old son inside the restaurant.
Agents approached the horror scene just after 6 p.m.
Hampton Jr. the deputy told reporters outside the Metro: “The suspect entered the restaurant, asked for a sandwich, and there was something wrong with the sandwich, so he got angry that he decided to get rid of the anger against the two workers here.” .

Hampton said the client then “decided to remove the anger against the two employees” in a “senseless act” of gun violence.
Willie Glenn, one of the owners of the Subway chain, told ABC News: “A customer came in and wasn’t happy with the way he made his sandwich; there was too much mayonnaise.”
He added that he does not understand why the customer did not ask employees to “remove the mayonnaise, or make another sandwich, or ask for a return.”
“I never, ever, ever thought that situations would go up to that level,” Glenn added.
“We’ve always been able to de-escalate any situation. But this has gone from zero to 100 in just a few seconds.”

He continued: “Now we have a young man who will probably spend his whole life in prison for $ 7 for a sandwich and mayonnaise.”
Both employees were relatively new to the store, and had been working there for a few weeks.
They described them as “excellent employees” and “exemplary employees”.
Meanwhile, the owner said the store could be closed for good, adding: “I can’t put anyone else at risk in that neighborhood.
“It’s not worth anyone’s life.”

A 36-year-old Atlanta man has been arrested, the Deputy Chief of Police has confirmed.
However, his name was not released.
