Washington (Reuters) -Huawei Technologies Chief Financial Officer Meng Wanzhou and a US prosecutor have said they have reached an agreement to resolve the charges against her and will conclude a process to allow her. Leave Canada.

Meng is expected to effectively appear at a hearing in the Brooklyn Federal Court, according to sources. She was arrested in a US warrant at Vancouver International Airport in December 2018 after being charged with banking and wire fraud for misleading HSBC about Huawei’s commercial transactions in Iran.

Huawei Princess

According to The New York Times, Meng, also known in English as Kathy and Sabrina, is the daughter of Huawei’s founder Ren Zhengfei and is referred to by state media as the “Princess of Huawei.” According to the Guardian, she was born in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, southwestern China, and holds a master’s degree in accounting from Huazhong University of Science and Technology. She also worked for the China Construction Bank before joining her father’s business in 1993, a British newspaper added.

U.S. Consulate Neighbor

Meng, who maintains her innocence and fights for surrender, is trapped in Vancouver and monitored 24/7 by private security guards who pay as part of a bail contract. According to the Guardian, neighbors in the wealthy areas where she lives while fighting surrender include the US Consulate General. She is trapped in her house at night, but is free to move around until 11 pm, according to the CBC, who reported receiving visits from her husband and two children.

After Meng’s arrest, China detained two Canadians and sentenced one to espionage in August-11, a move widely seen in retaliation. Her detention is seen as politically motivated in China. This perception was strengthened by a statement made by former President Donald Trump in an interview with Reuters.
