Drag the racer’s slam to the Texas audience. Two children were killed

Kerrville, Texas — Authorities said the driver lost control during a drag racing event in Texas, crashed into a crowd of spectators, killed two children and injured eight others on Saturday.

Police said in a news release that a 6-year-old boy and an 8-year-old boy were killed in a crash on Saturday afternoon at an event called “Airport Race Wars 2” at Kerrville-Kerr County Airport. At the event, drivers slowed down the runway in search of cash.

The driver “lost control, left the runway, collided with a parked vehicle and struck the spectators watching the race,” Carville police said.

The injured victims were taken to various hospitals, including a 46-year-old woman listed in danger. According to officials, the condition of the 26-year-old man was unknown, but most of the other injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. A 4-year-old boy and a 3-month-old girl were taken to the hospital for prophylactic evaluation.

Carville is about 60 miles (97 kilometers) northwest of San Antonio.

Authorities did not immediately disclose the identities of the two children killed.

The Carville Convention and Visitors Bureau website advertised the event as an “action-packed family day” where fans can see “the fastest drag cars competing for a total of over $ 8,000 in prize money.”
