Berlin (Reuters) – Frank Appel, CEO of Deutsche Post, a German logistics company, likes to assume the post of Deutsche Telekom’s next auditor, two sources close to the issue are Reuters. Told to.
Deutsche Post’s Board of Corporate Auditors will meet on Wednesday, according to sources, and Deutsche Telekom’s Board of Corporate Auditors will meet a week later to discuss this issue.
Both companies declined to comment.
The Handelsblatt newspaper reported on Saturday that Apel could be proposed for election at Deutsche Telekom’s annual meeting on April 7.
The term of Telecom Chairman Ulrich Lehner, who has headed Telecom’s supervisory authority since 2008, will end at next year’s shareholders’ meeting. He had already confirmed that an external investigation of his successor was underway.
Klaus Zumwinkel, Deutsche Post’s predecessor to Apel, also served as Chairman of the Audit & Supervisory Board of Telecom.
The German government holds shares in both companies.
Former McKinsey consultant Appel has been working for Deutsche Post since 2000. He became a member of the board of directors in 2002 and was promoted to CEO in 2008.
His contract lasted until 2022, and his decision on his future at the post was immediately anticipated. Some industry insiders speculate that Deutsche Post may be ready to move on, given that Deutsche Post has released record results through a pandemic.
