DeMarvin Leal looks to the breakout season at Texas A & M and gives back to the Judson community.

San Antonio – Texas A & M star defensive end De Marvin Leal has seen and heard all the hype, but this quiet Saturday morning at Rutledge Stadium, where he called his hometown, Leal put him here. I look back on some of the moments I took.

“Memory, my first touchdown freshman year to O’Connor. Of course, Smithson Valley, Roosevelt, Wagner, all these games. It was just crazy,” Lille said in an interview with KSAT Sports in late July. Said.

A pre-season all-American, all-SEC player, Lille, who was scheduled for the first draft topic, returned home for a short time with his mother and family before giving all his attention to the next season at College Station. I visited together.

“I just feel blessed to come from this culture and where the graduates are and to improve and improve for my family and myself,” Leal said.

Some say there was no doubt that Leal would reach this status. As one of the top new hires nationwide after graduating from Judson High School, Lille was a five-star player with several offers from major universities.

But Lille understands the work he took to reach this point and knows that the praise he received this preseason will make it more difficult.

Lille is in its third season at Texas A & M. He has returned powerfully after some early injury setbacks to begin his college career. Currently, he is one of the defense team leaders who is expected to compete for the conference and preferably the national title.

“It was just a lot of adversity and a lot of prayers I had to experience, a lot of talk with my mother, coaches, friends and family, and just getting myself back,” Lille said. Said. “My expectation is that I can be a leader in defensive lines. Make sure we have reached the standard. And they are all committed to our goals.”

In June, Leal and three other Aggies were featured on the cover of the iconic Dave Campbell’s Texas Football magazine. He has been honored, but is more proud to cover with his “Wrecking Crew” teammates and brothers in the field.

“It was a blessing because I’m with the team. We’re just having fun. It was a good magazine photo shoot,” Leal said.

Lille also remained humble throughout the process. In the open, he looks at Netflix and relaxes, making it look like “power.” He looks too far into the future and doesn’t want to miss the present and this season’s Aggie’s.

Lille knows that if he declares early, he’s considered to be in the Top 10 in next year’s NFL draft, but his focus is on “school and football,” and “it’s God’s. If it’s a will, it will happen. “

Then, a new name, image and portrait (NIL) law came into force for college athletes, and Leal launched its own brand of merchandise and clothing. He will also take this opportunity to give back to the Converse community, which has supported him for many years.

In an interview with KSAT Sports, Leal launched a “Boys and Girls Club” in the area to support the community in the way many other Judson Alums have done, including Treflowers and Jarbeon Williams. He said he would like to find different ways. past.

“It’s like a movie coming from here. Because it’s Judson, everyone comes for you,” Lille said. “We are made to be successful in different atmospheres because that’s what we learned here. We are not only in the field, but also out of the field. Learn the core values of what you need. “

He also takes responsibility for becoming a role model for the next generation of Judson youth players.

“They love to hear what I’ve experienced, they basically only know the journey and the effort, dedication, and dedication it takes,” Leal said.

The journey, which began on Friday night in this same field, will continue this fall in Kyle Field, preferably to the NFL.
