DeChambeau provides enough power on the first day of the Ryder Cup

Sheboygan, Wisconsin. – Bryson DeChambeau provided a must-see television for the first Ryder Cup match on the weekend and introduced the power and go-for-broke style that marks him as one of the most dynamic players in the game.

One of the things he couldn’t achieve was his first career, the Ryder Cup victory.

DeChambeau and Scottie Scheffler settled in a best ball match between Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton on Friday after Hatton sank a 7-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole. DeChambeau was not included in the morning foursome match US lineup.

Still, half-points represent progress. DeChambeau lost 0-3 when the United States lost to the 2018 Ryder Cup in the suburbs of Paris. His contribution helped the United States lead Europe 6-2 in Whistling Straits.

“I’m glad I got something for the team,” DeChambeau said. “It’s frustrating, but we fought hard.”

The turbulent day began with his opening tee shot. e hit the crowd with a left rough just to recover for the birdie. He then followed the four holes with the most spectacular shots of the day. No. 5 stunning 417 yards drive.

“I knew if it was a little downwind, so I was able to take a unique line. Fortunately, I was able to blow that wind today,” DeChambeau said. “It was over 20 mph, and I told myself,” Okay, I had to aim at the green, so I did. “So I just aimed at the green and the bomb. .. “

DeChambeau’s tee shot sailed over the pond on the right. No one has tried it in the three PGA Championships on this course, but left him just 72 yards from a long par 5 hole.

DeChambeau made an eagle putt And he paid tribute to the fans who chanted “Bryson!” And “USA!”

“I didn’t want to make a par,” he said. “If you do, you’ll go home.”

DeChambeau said earlier this month his hands were “destroyed” during training for the Ryder Cup and Pro Long Drive Association championship events starting Monday in Mesquite, Nevada. But he felt good enough to swing at full speed during the match.

“Today, nearly 200 miles of ball speed warms up in the range per hour, which is great,” DeChambeau said. “My body is finally starting to feel comfortable and healed from all speed training stuff.”

Not everything went as planned by DeChambeau. He smashed another big drive in an attempt to hit the green in 13th place at 394 yards and swung the driver towards the ball during the flight. He was a pin high, but landed in a bunker and settled in a par.

DeChambeau still had a better moment than a bad one. DeChambeau placed his drive right next to Ram when he hit a drive less than two feet from the hole in 12th on par 3. The duel birdie drew the match.

The United States took one uplead on the 15th before Europe tied it in the last hole.

“It was a match before and after, and it was a very rare match,” said Ram, the world’s top player. “I know that if you let Bryson do what he did with 5, there are some holes that make half a very good score for the tee shot he can hit.”

DeChambeau’s performance was another encouraging sign for the US team on a day when they couldn’t get any better. Now he wants to make sure the momentum continues throughout the rest of the weekend.

“This is a great start, but the work isn’t done,” DeChambeau said. “We have two more days. More golf. And we can’t lose our way of thinking to win.”
