Over 300 people are enrolled in the pop-up event on Saturday. Judge Clay Jenkins said the county could extend its rental period at the fair park as hospitalizations increased.
Dallas County, Texas — The Dallas County Health and Welfare Service is hosting a pop-up vaccine clinic on Saturday as the COVID-19 Delta mutant facilitates community-wide hospitalization.
According to the DFW Hospital Council, about 1,500 people were hospitalized with COVID-19. Steve Love, president and CEO, said more than 25% of that number is in the ICU.
The pop-up announcement will come after the CDC revealed on Friday that the Delta variant is as contagious as chickenpox.
The CDC also says that people vaccinated with COVID-19 may develop a breakthrough infection of the variant and spread the virus to people who have not been vaccinated symptomatically or asymptomatically. I said there is.
The county closed the Fair Park mass vaccination drive-through site on July 17. This indicates that it is less infected and has the potential to win the fight against the pandemic.
Saturday will be the first vaccination event since its closure.
According to Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins, the county lease at Fairpark will expire on August 1. However, if the infection continues to increase in August and September, the county can extend its lease.
“Our hospital is starting to fill up with people in their 20s, 30s and 40s,” said Jenkins. “As long as our community needs it, we want to keep doing it as much as we can.”
