Content criticized by U.S. President Joe Biden on Twitter and Facebook has been censored 646 times in two years, a new report found.
According to the Media Research Center, through its CensorTrack database, various censored content included comic memes and generic messages addressed to the Commander-in-Chief who entered the White House in January 2021.
Users who posted this content deleted comments, restricted or completely suspended platform activities.
The report was released when Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, reached an agreement to buy $ 44 billion on Twitter in a transaction that would change control of the social media platform with millions of users and world leaders.
The self-described “absolutist of freedom” Twitter algorithm opposes giving too much power to the service to make tweets public and advertise to corporations, and said it wants to stop banning users.
The CensorTrack report examined the bans from March 10, 2020 to March 10, 2022. This period includes the first year that Biden was ending his presidential campaign with his 2020 victory and the first year he occupied the White House.
The largest category of banned messages related to the reputation of Biden’s inappropriate contact, CensorTrack said. Biden was forced to deal with this in his campaign.
In an example cited by the organization, a user told CensorTrack that Facebook had deleted one of the messages showing Biden kissing someone on the lips.
One caption in the picture read, “Find someone who kisses you the way Joe Biden kisses his grandson.” The screenshots sent by the user suggested that Facebook said the message violated the rules of its community for “nudity or sexual activity.”
Meanwhile, more than a quarter of the 646 acts against users were related to the New York Post’s Hunter Biden story, where he investigated his family for alleged foreign business corruption.
Criticism of US President Joe Biden has been censored 646 times on social media platforms Twitter and Facebook in two years, according to a new report.
Twitter went so far as to block the Post’s account for 17 days and put a “warning tag” on the GOP’s House Judiciary Commission website after linking to the story.
Last month – after initially dismissing the story, the Washington Post finally admitted that Hunter Biden’s laptop was real, a year after receiving a copy for the first time, a year after it was authenticated by DailyMail.com.
A story based on the contents of a laptop published by the newspaper focused on the millions of dollars Hunter and his uncle, Joe Biden’s brother Jim, received from the Chinese government linked to a Chinese oil giant CEFC.
The Washington Post validated the material on a laptop hard drive left by cyber forensic experts, using methods similar to those used by experts hired by DailyMail.com in March 2021.
His approval came after a similar concession from the New York Times, which in a long story published earlier in March quietly stated that he had also validated the laptop material.
Some have suggested that some of the oppression of the story in the media may have contributed to the outcome of the 2020 election in favor of Biden.
CensorTrack also reported an example that Big Tech companies banned users from blaming the current inflation crisis on Biden.
In one case, he said Facebook was censored by Heritage Action – the Conservative Foundation’s Heritage Foundation advocacy group – after the group released a video on March 15 citing statements about Biden’s energy policy.
The video showed Biden and other government officials explaining how the energy policy would raise gas prices.
In response, the Silicon Valley giant removed the message from its platform.
CensorTrack identified 232 cases – more than a third of the content against Biden – that were classified as “comic memes, videos, or generic messages about Biden’s behavior.” The group also said some were banned from mentioning the president now because he was less than competent.
In an example quoted by CensorTrack on Breaking 911, Biden said sarcastically, “Freedom! … I have the freedom to kill you with my COVID. No, I mean, pull! Freedom ?!” The post has been deleted.
A quarter of the 646 actions against users were related to the New York Post’s Hunter Biden laptop story, documented alleged corrupt activity, and found a collection of photos of Hunter (pictured)
The website shared a list of users who were censored by Facebook or Twitter, which included several influential people in the U.S.
Former U.S. President Donald Trump, as well as Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) were among the top politicians who were subject to bans or actions by Big Tech companies.
Other people who were reprimanded for their accounts included Donald Trump Jr., actor James Woods and Daily Wire Candace Owens and radio presenter Sebastian Gorka and Dana Loesch, CensorTrack said.
Former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany saw her Twitter account blocked as she tried to share the Hunter Way story in the Post.
The media also targeted the New York Post, The Washington Free Beacon, Federalist, and The Babylon Bee.
A study by MRC Free Speech America used a database compiled by CensorTrack, which records and describes why people were censored on social media.
CensorTrack said it has so far received 3,600 general reports on Big Tech platforms for discussing various issues of people who have seen their activities censored, including climate change, race, Covid-19 and elections.
The report was released by Elon Musk, the world’s richest man (pictured in April), when he reached an agreement to buy $ 44 billion on Twitter in a transaction that will change control of his social media platform with millions of users and world leaders.
Elon Musk reached an agreement to buy Twitter on Monday for $ 44 billion.
This is an important moment for the 16-year-old company, which was created as one of the most influential public squares in the world and now faces a range of challenges.
Musk, who calls himself an absolutist of free speech, has criticized Twitter’s moderation. Twitter’s algorithm aims to make tweets too public and to give corporations too much power to the service they advertise.
Political activists hope that the Musk regime will lead to less restraint and the restoration of banned people, including former President Donald Trump. Conservatives welcomed the possibility of less control, while some human rights activists expressed fear of a rise in hate speech.
Musk has also advocated for easy-to-use settings for the service, such as the edit button and the defeat of “spam bots” that send out huge amounts of unwanted tweets.
“Freedom of expression is the foundation of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is a digital town square that discusses issues that are essential to the future of humanity,” Musk said in a statement.
In a tweet before the deal was announced last Tuesday, Musk wrote: “The policies of a social media platform are good if 10% of the far left and right are equally unhappy,” suggesting that the platform aims to limit extreme political views.
HUNTER’S COMPUTER Authenticating
DailyMail.com commissioned cyber forensic experts at Maryman & Associates to determine the authenticity of the hard drive.
The company’s founder, Brad Maryman, was a 29-year veteran of the FBI, served as Director of Information Security, and created the office’s cyberforce unit. His partner, Dr. Joseph Greenfield, is an associate professor at the University of Southern California and helped write their undergraduate program in intelligence and cyber operations.
After an in-depth study of the hard drive, Greenfield and Maryman made a report to DailyMail.com detailing their findings.
A total of 103,000 text messages, 154,000 emails and more than 2,000 photographs were found using the same federal and state forensic law tools.
– Several accounts have been found on the laptop account since 2009, and other data that appears to be “related to Mr. Biden” between 2016 and 2019.
– The findings of the report are in line with the well-known hard drive timeline. A job application from the Wilmington, Delaware computer store with Hunter’s signature shows that he left his 2017 MacBook Pro laptop there on April 12, 2019.
– The Maryman & Associates report said that the original “Macintosh HD” album was released on March 28, 2018.
– Hunter’s iCloud email address was added to the laptop system on October 21, 2018, as well as his work email to Rosemont Seneca on February 2, 2019.
– On the same day, a Gmail address that was used to access sex cam sites and another personal Gmail address of Hunter were also added.
– Beau Biden’s old Gmail account was added on February 7, 2019.
– Hunter’s e-mail addresses have been found in various systems from December 2009 to December 2020.
– An iPad with three email addresses associated with the name ‘Hunter’s iPad’ and the Biden family was backed up on a laptop and in iCloud in January 2019 and a month later again.
– Greenfield has found 818 call logs on this iPad backup from June 2016 to February 2019 with time stamps.
– There were 8,942 entries in the iPad contact book created between April 2016 and January 2019.
– In February 2019, an iPhone XS was also synced with the laptop. Its serial number matched the time stamps on the phone.
To conclude, “the operating system’s time stamps appear to be genuine, and no evidence was found to suggest that the time stamps or data were altered or fabricated,” the report says. “No evidence was found suggesting that the data was fabricated.”
