AUSTIN, Texas – Abortion will soon be illegal in Texas, but some companies are making sure their employees have support if they choose to receive out-of-state reproductive health care. Career strategist Julie Bauke says this is necessary to attract new talent.

While company support can help attract and retain employees, it can also drive customers away. Kyleen Wright, president of Texans for Life, says she withdrew her money from Citibank after the company announced it would help women pay for reproductive care out of state.

“It’s something new for corporations to feel the need to talk about,” Wright said. “And I do not know who pressures them to do so or why they are giving the hook, but all these companies have customers from all walks of life. Many do not appreciate it and we have other options.

Yelp, Match Group and Indeed told Spectrum News that they would help their employees get the health care they need outside of Texas.
