Los Angeles (Reuters) – Britney Spears’ father, Jamie Spears, investigates pop superstars’ allegations of being abused under the statutory guardianship system for being denied the ability to make her own medical decisions. I asked.
In a court filed late Tuesday, Jamie Spears’ lawyer said, “I’m very sad to hear my daughter’s difficulties and sufferings,” and “I believe these claims need to be investigated.” It was.
Britney Spears has been under the power of attorney since the collapse of mental health in 2008. The “strong” singer told a Los Angeles judge last week that she was forced to take the drug lithium against her will and was barred from releasing contraception. I wanted to end the adult guardianship system.
Jamie Spears was a co-guardian of her daughter’s finances and was also responsible for her personal affairs until she resigned from her position in September 2019. Care manager Jody Montgomery has been appointed as a temporary guardian of personal issues. Last year, Britney Spears began legal proceedings to prevent his father from returning to his role.
Jamie Spears’ lawyer said in a new filing that he had no intention of regaining his position and was not involved in her “personal care or medical or reproductive problems.”
“Mr. Spears couldn’t directly hear and address her daughter’s concerns because she lost communication with her,” she submitted to the Los Angeles Superior Court.
The lawyer also requested the court to hold a hearing to investigate whether Montgomery should continue to oversee the singer’s personal affairs, in light of Britney Spears’ court testimony.
Montgomery’s lawyer did not immediately respond to the request for comment.
In her statement in court last week, Britney Spears called her father “ignorant.” “He loved it every minute and the controls he had. He liked it,” she said.
