London (Reuters) – British police investigating a 2017 Manchester Arena suicide bomber arrested a man on Friday on suspicion of a terrorist crime, Greater Manchester police said.

Police were arrested in a statement when a 24-year-old man returned to Britain via Manchester Airport on suspicion of engaging / preparing for a terrorist act and assisting others in the act of preparation.

The man was from Manchester, the statement said.

At a concert at the venue by American singer Ariana Grande, 22 people, including seven children, were killed in an attack on the crowd.

On Thursday, Salman Abedi’s 28-year-old brother, Ismail Abedi, who carried out the attack, did not appear in a hearing about the bombing.

Another brother, Hashem Abedi, was convicted of murder and was imprisoned in August 2020 for at least 55 years for helping Salman plan an attack.

The brothers were born to Libyan parents who emigrated to England during the reign of Mu’ammar Al-Kadafi.
