Braves postseason star Rosario is down 8-12 weeks due to eye problems

ATLANTA – The Atlanta Braves have put collapsed gardener Eddie Rosario on the 10-day injury list with blurred vision and swelling in his right eye and are expected to miss eight to 12 weeks.

Right-hander William Woods was called up to take Rosario’s place, giving the Braves 16 pitchers on his 28-man roster.

Returning from a knee injury that ended his 2021 season, Acuña is expected to play at least two more games with Triple-A Gwinnett as part of his rehabilitation job.

He is scheduled to rejoin the Braves on May 6, but that schedule could be brought forward as the defending champions win just seven of their first 17 games.

Coins hit .357 with three stolen bases and one hit in 14 innings at bat for Gwinnett.

Woods, 23, had yet to pitch in the major leagues. He was added to the 40-man roster last November and split the time this season between Double-A Mississippi and Gwinnett.

Announcement

Woods pitched in six games with a minor starter, with a 0-1 combined with an effectiveness of 7.04. The six races came in their first two appearances; he has since pitched 3 2/3 of perfect innings with nine strikeouts.
