Brandon Short’s daughter, former NFL, Pennsylvania State University star killed in Pennsylvania shooting: Report

The daughter of former NFL and Pennsylvania State University linebacker Brandon Short was reportedly shot dead in Pennsylvania on Monday.

According to police, the victim was found to have a gunshot wound in his head after a woman had fallen at around 10:30 am in the McKeesport area, about 12 miles southeast of Pittsburgh. She was sentenced to death on the scene, according to Allegheny County police.

“My heart is broken,” Brandon Short wrote on Facebook. “I lost the light of my life, my eldest daughter Kali died this morning in a meaningless act of gun violence. The love she had was so pure and true. The world is a beautiful soul. We are struggling to overcome this difficult time, so reach out and keep our family in your prayers. “

Brandon Short, 44, was the New York Giants’ fourth round pick in the 2000 NFL Draft. He played for the Giants, the Carolina Panthers and the NFL for seven seasons.

Prior to being drafted, Short was an outstanding linebacker, two-time captain, and all-American under the direction of Joe Paterno at Pennsylvania State University. He was nominated as the defensive MVP of the 1998 Citrus Bowl.

Currently, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune Review, Short is Executive Director and Portfolio Manager for global real estate firm PGIM Real Estate. He has also been on the board of directors of Pennsylvania State University since 2018.

“During this difficult time, our hearts are directed towards Brandon Short’s trustees and Kali Short’s family and friends,” said Eric Barone, President of Pennsylvania State University, according to a Tribune review. “My heart is heavy when I think about the traumatic impact of this tragic loss of young people on the entire McKeesport community.”

At the time of her death, Kali Short was working at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Philly Voices quoted from her Facebook page. She graduated from McKeesport Area High School like her father, Voice reported.

According to Allegheny County police, the murder investigator has begun investigating her death.
