5 Most-Anticipated Musicals in 2022

Going to the theater is different from going to the movies. The action is much more personal, and in more intimate shows, you can even meet the performers. Theaters are a social place where people dress up and talk.

We’ve had a couple of rough years, with social distancing putting theater plans on hold. But 2022 is roaring back, and people are ready to go outside. Theaters have been experiencing a renaissance, with beautiful new musicals announced every week.

In 2022, there’ll be some extraordinary new shows that’ll have everyone talking. And you can grab your tickets to these anticipated musicals using ticket websites or resellers like Bigstub, Seatgeek, or StubHub.

The Osmonds

You’re going to fall in love with The Osmonds. It has all the music, comedy, and fabulous personality with a lot of your favorite hits. The Osmonds is an autobiographical show by Jay Osmond, who created it with the help of Julian Bigg & Shaun Kerrison. The UK tour features choreography by Bill Deamer and a line-up of hits from “Puppy Love,” “Long Haired Lover From Liverpool,” and “Love Me For A Reason” to “Crazy Horses” is set to launch next year.

Orphans

The National Theatre of Scotland is putting on a show in 2022. After a couple of difficult years, they’re bringing back theater with Peter Mullan’s 1998 dark comedy, Orphans.

Orphans features brothers and sisters who get back together at their mother’s funeral, with dark and zany results. The musical version was adapted by Douglas Maxwell, with music written by Roddy Hart and Tommy Reilly.

The cast and talent look amazing, so we can’t wait to see what they have in store for us!

The Cher Show

The 1980s are back in fashion, and we’re dying to see one of the icons on stage. Cher is a biographical piece that follows the singer’s early life and career. It’s been out for a few years now and has already won two Tony awards.

Now it’s back off-broadway and accessible to everyone. We can’t wait to see what the cast has in store for us in 2022.

101 Dalmatians

After 2021’s hit Cruella, Disney is on a roll and looking to do something special on the stage.

101 Dalmatians already had the first run in 2020, but with everything going on, it was canceled in 2021.

Hopefully, we can get back into the theaters and give 101 Dalmatians the attention it deserves with everything behind us now. The music is by Douglas Hodge, and Zinnie Harris did the stage adaption. They have an all-star cast lined up, so all we can say is…break a leg!

Claus The Musical

Everyone loves Santa Claus, and Christmas-themed shows always play well with families. There’s a lot of source material to work with here, and we love the idea.

The Musical is adapted from a book by the author of the Wizard of Oz and follows the story of a man who flies around the world every year, delivering joy to all the children. Katee Golledge produced the music and did the stage direction. It’s going to be magical.
