Biden aims to vaccinate 70% of American adults by July 4th

Washington – President Joe Biden has set a new vaccination goal of delivering at least one shot to 70% of adult Americans by July 4. He tackles the daunting problem of beating “suspicious people” and those who are not willing to get vaccinated.

Demand for vaccines has declined significantly nationwide, leaving more than half of the available doses unordered in some states. Biden will call on the state to make the vaccine available on-board and instruct many pharmacies to do the same on Tuesday, with the aim of making it easier to inject.

His administration is also moving from low-demand states to areas with high interest in shots.

“You need to be vaccinated. Why take a risk even if you’re unlikely to get a serious illness? It can save your life and the lives of your loved ones,” said Biden of the White House. Said.

Biden’s goal is to provide at least the first shot to 181 million adults and to fully vaccinate 160 million. This implicitly acknowledges a diminished interest in shots.

Already, more than 56% of American adults have been vaccinated at least once with the COVID-19 vaccine, and nearly 105 million have been fully vaccinated. The United States is currently giving initial doses at a rate of approximately 965,000 per day. That’s half the rate three weeks ago, but almost twice as fast as it takes to reach Biden’s goal.

“I want to reach 100%, but in reality I think I can reach that place between now and July 4,” Biden said of his new goal.

He said the administration will focus on three areas as it seeks to increase the pace of vaccination.
