BCSO deputy arrested for attempted drug smuggling in prison, sheriff says

SAN ANTONIO “The Bexar County Deputy Sheriff has been arrested after an attempt to smuggle marijuana into Bexar County Jail,” Sheriff Javier Salazar told a news conference Sunday morning.

A prisoner was caught speaking in an encrypted phone call, prompting lawmakers to launch a drug smuggling operation at the prison, Salazar said.

The investigation revealed that the MP had marijuana and synthetic marijuana in his car, outside the prison.

Kolbe A. Graf Ramirez, 21, was arrested on three charges, including criminal conspiracy to commit substances in a correctional facility, possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.

Ramirez is the sixth BCSO deputy arrested this year.

His arrest comes just days after another deputy, Ivan Torres, was arrested for injuring a prisoner.

Torres pushed a prisoner to the ground, causing him to hit a bed, leaving tears on the prisoners’ faces, BCSO officials said.

He is accused of official oppression and causing bodily harm.

In 2019, another MP was arrested along with three members of the Texas Mexican mafia for drug possession and bribery charges.
