Apple stops selling products in Russia

Apple has stopped selling its products through the Apple Store in Russia, the company confirmed on Tuesday.

All Apple products on the Russian online storefront are marked as “unavailable” for purchase or delivery in the country. Apple does not have any physical Apple stores in Russia.

Apple also said Tuesday that it has removed Russian state-owned RT News and Sputnik News from the App Store worldwide, except Russia.

“We have taken a number of actions in response to the invasion. We have suspended all sales in Russia. Last week we stopped all exports to our sales channel in the country. Apple Pay and other services were limited. RT News and Sputnik News are no longer available for download with the App Store outside of Russia, and we have cut off both traffic and live incidents on Apple Maps in Ukraine as a security and precautionary measure for Ukrainian citizens, ”an Apple spokesman said in a statement to CNBC.

The suspension of Apple’s sales on Tuesday underscores the problems American companies are facing during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Companies are facing logistics problems, falling Russian ruble prices and forcing Russian customers to pay after Western credit card services were restricted in the country.

Last week, Dell said it had suspended sales in Ukraine and Russia. Nike has also stopped selling products in Russia, according to a statement posted on the company’s website. Ford has suspended the joint venture in Russia, it said in a statement on Tuesday.
