Moscow (Reuters) – Apple has launched legal proceedings against Russian antitrust authorities in a dispute over alternative payment options on the App Store platform, RIA news agency quoted court filings on Sunday. Reported.

Russia filed an anti-trust proceeding against Apple in late October, accusing app developers of not allowing customers to explain alternative payment options when using the App Store. If convicted, Apple said it could be fined based on its earnings in Russia.

In a document released on December 1, the Moscow Arbitration Court named Apple as a plaintiff and Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) as a defendant in an “economic dispute over administrative law.”

Apple, which did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment, requested that additional documents be added to the case on December 2, the RIA reported.

Forbes Russia said FAS representatives said they had filed a proceeding on August 30 related to a warning that Apple did not notify users that it could pay for purchases outside the App Store. ..

FAS did not immediately respond to the request for comment.

Apple faced a backlash against App Store rules in the United States in September when a federal judge ruled that companies were forced to allow developers to send users to other payment systems.
