Apple Announces North Carolina’s First East Coast Campus

Apple announced on Monday that it plans to invest more than $ 1 billion in North Carolina to build its first East Coast campus. The move is expected to bring at least 3,000 new jobs to the state.

The development was part of Apple’s efforts to increase investment as the United States began rebuilding from the COVID-19 pandemic, the company said in a statement.

The North Carolina project has invested $ 430 billion, added a total of 20,000 new jobs over the next five years, and teamed up in states such as Colorado, Massachusetts, Texas, Washington, New York, and California. Officials said it falls under the promise of expansion.

The campus and engineering hub, alongside hundreds of other science and technology companies, is set up in the Research Triangle Park in the Low Leader Durham area. The hub has thousands of additional jobs in machine learning, artificial intelligence, software engineering, and other areas.

The exact timeline for the project was not immediately shown.

Michael Haley, Executive Director of Wake County Economic Development, said: “This is an important milestone in strengthening our position as a technology hub. Apple’s decision to invest in the Triangle is a testament to the talent, resources, and overall quality of life of our community.”

Apple has also set up a $ 100 million fund to support school and community initiatives, providing over $ 110 million in infrastructure spending on state-wide broadband, roads, bridges and public schools. I said it was planned.

The company already employs 1,100 workers in North Carolina and expects its investment in North Carolina to bring more than $ 1.5 billion annually to the state’s economic benefits.
