AUSTIN, Texas: The Austin Police Department joins the 30×30 Initiative. It is a program in which police departments and organizations across the country are working to establish greater representation among women in law enforcement.
APD is currently made up of 11% women officers and their hope is to increase their recruitment class by 2030 to 30% women. The department’s goal is also to implement policies and cultures that support and are representative of women officers.
Chief Joseph Chacon signed the initiative at the Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders on Wednesday afternoon.
Chacón’s chief of staff, Robin Henderson, said she was proud to be part of the movement.
