Croatia beat Morocco to finish third at World Cup 2022

AL RAYYAN, Qatar — Luka Modric leads Croatia to third place. World Cup.

The four-year-old runner-up won another medal by beating Morocco 2-1 in Saturday’s third-place match.

Mislav Orsic scored the decisive goal at the Khalifa International Stadium just before half-time to ensure Modric were victorious if this was to be the final game of the World Cup.

Any hopes of leading his country at the 2024 European Championships seem likely for the 37-year-old.

Josko Gvardiol put Croatia ahead in the 7th minute but Achraf Dari equalized in the 9th minute.

After becoming the first African team to reach the World Cup semi-finals, Morocco’s tournament ended with two losses. But the team’s achievements in Qatar will be remembered as a source of pride for the Arab nation.

The World Cup final between defending champions France and Argentina is scheduled for Sunday at Lusail Stadium.
