An upset teenager told of Cosby’s sexual abuse, a friend testified

SANTA MONICA, CA. “Sixteen-year-old Judy Hutt was deeply desperate minutes after Bill Cosby allegedly sexually abused her one afternoon in 1975 at the Playboy mansion,” her best friend said at the time on Wednesday.

“She said, ‘I want to go, I want to leave,’ and she cried,” said Donna Samuelson, then 17 and now 64, the first witness in a Los Angeles County civil trial in Huth’s case against the 85-year-old. comedian and actor.

Samuelson, who was looking forward to spending the rest of the afternoon and evening at the mansion, was angry with her friend until Hutt explained.

“She said Bill Cosby tried to have sex with her,” Samuelson said.

Hutt told Samuelson that in a bedroom outside a gaming hall on the mansion, where the three of them hung out and played billiards and arcade games, Cosby tried to put his hand on her tight pants and then exposed himself, forcing Hutt to touched him sexually, testified Samuelson, who was distracted by the game and did not know what had happened.

Samuelson took two photos of Cosby and Hutt together that day, which are central to the process and were shown to the jury on the first day. Clearly recognizable Cosby has a beard and a red hat.

Cosby’s lawyer called the allegations of sexual violence “complete and utter fabrication” and said the photos were the only reason the case existed.

“It’s a plan devised by Judy Hutt and her estranged friend Donna Samuelson based on some photos,” said attorney Jennifer Bonjan in her opening remarks shortly before Samuelson took office. “You will learn that Judy Hutt has been trying to make money from these photos for decades.

The lawsuit is one of the last remaining lawsuits against Cosby, after his Pennsylvania conviction was overturned by an appeals court last year and his insurer settled many other lawsuits against his will. He is not present at the trial and will not testify, but parts of a video he released shortly after the case was filed in 2014 will be released.

Samuelson testified that Cosby met the two girls on a set in a Los Angeles park a few days earlier and invited them to come to a club where he would play tennis, after which he accepted them as a surprise for the mansion, as told if someone asked their age to say they were 18, but no one did.

By the time Hutt told his story to Samuelson, Cosby had gone to an event with plans to return hours later, leaving the girls behind.

Samuelson said she asked her desperate friend if she wanted to go to the police or tell someone else, but Hutt said no. She persuaded Hutt to stay at the mansion.

“I thought it would calm her down to swim and other things,” Samuelson said. I said, “We’ll leave as soon as he gets back.”

She said that the butler of the manor brought the girls swimsuits in whatever style, size and color they wanted, and they hung out in the manor’s famous cave pool and ordered tequila sunrises. They then dined at the mansion, sitting across from actor Peter Lowford.

They were fiddling with the piano when Cosby came back and hugged the terrified Hutt. The girls immediately got up to leave, Samuelson said, but just then Playboy boss Hugh Hefner and his model friend Barbie Benton came in and Cosby introduced them before they left.

Bonjan took advantage of the girls’ stay at the mansion during its opening.

“Boy, Judy and Donna were having fun. They stayed 12 hours, “Bonjan said.” There is no typical response to a traumatic event, but the party at the Playboy mansion doesn’t look consistent. ”

But in an introductory statement, Hutt’s lawyer, Nathan Goldberg, said in the following months that she was very emotionally affected by the trauma, smoking in large quantities, getting into troubled relationships and suffering from anxiety.

“She was no longer the happy girl she was,” Goldberg said.

The Associated Press does not usually name people who say they have been sexually abused unless they go public like Hutt.
