Katharine McPhee has returned to the “American Idol” stage.
The 37-year-old singer-actress lost to Taylor Hicks and was the runner-up in the fifth season of the singing competition.
Now she’s back in the show with two contestants this season, Alyssa Ray and Willie Spence.
“When I grew up, I went to my mom’s bed and watched” American Idol. “I remember when. [McPhee] Ray said in the show’s package, “I just thought she was this insane power.”

The pair played Whitney Houston’s “I’m Your Baby Tonight” together, but 19-year-old Ray wasn’t very familiar with the song before the rehearsal.
“We’re going to sing Whitney Houston’s’I’m You Baby Tonight’. I heard that you really didn’t know how young you were and I shed tears,” the actress “Smash” joked. Said. ..
The performance surprised the judge who spewed over the pair.
“We’re talking together and they praise each other very well,” said Lionel Richie. “… together you made it look like you’ve been doing it for a hundred years.”

“I think you really are the first singer to be on stage with other stars,” praised Katy Perry.
Spence took McPhee on stage to play Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli’s “Prayer” after starting his night with a cover of Bette Midler’s “Wind Under My Wings”. ..
“One of the things I really like about singers that is really special to you is the ability to make them feel like they’re telling a story,” McPhee said in their rehearsals.
The star dedicated his performance to his father, who died three years ago.
“I hope it will be special to us and to the audience,” she spouted.

As with McPhee’s performance with Ray, the jury’s trio said only kind words about the duet.
McPhee has appeared many times in “American Idol” since taking second place in 2006. According to IMDb, she starred in the show’s 7, 15 and 18 seasons, in addition to her Sunday night performance.

Ray also covered “something in the water” by Carrie Underwood. This is another early graduate of the show.
