Accusation filed for shooting Utah football player from North Texas

Salt Lake City – A 22-year-old man suspected of shooting dead Utah football player Aaron Lowe at a party was charged on Wednesday with exacerbated murder.

Rowe, 21, died at a house party in late September, just hours after the team defeated Washington State University. The shooting allegedly occurred after a debate involving Rowe and another group out of the way of his car so he could go home.

Buk M. Buk was charged with attempted murder, attempted murder, possession of firearms by a restricted person, and obstruction of justice. The first accusation involves the possibility of the death penalty.

The shooting allegedly occurred after uninvited guests, including Buk, arrived at the party and the organizers began asking people to leave. Neighbors also complained to 911 about noise.

A 20-year-old woman named Fuamoli Pomale has accused Buk of trying to end the fight when he picked up a gun from another man at a party and started shooting.

Pomare was also shot in the chest and neck, damaging the spinal cord and other soft tissues, and unable to speak, officials said. According to court records, she instead entered the answer to the investigator’s question or responded with a non-verbal gesture.

Rowe, a cornerback in Mesquite, Texas, died nine months after the running back of his friend and fellow Texas fellow Ty Jordan, who died in an accidental shooting on Christmas 2020.

It’s unclear if Buku has a lawyer who can speak for him.
