A man who wanted to be murdered in San Marcos arrested in San Antonio

San Marcos, Texas – A 42-year-old man was arrested on Monday in connection with the murder of a 36-year-old woman in San Marcos.

According to a news release, Kirill St. John Sokolov was arrested in San Antonio and transferred to Hays County Jail.

Sokolov had fled from Friday night when police officer San Marcos answered a welfare check call at a house near the corner of North Bishop Street and Craddock Avenue. When police arrived, they found the body of Cheryl Ritza in San Marcos on the patio.

According to police, police officers also found an infant lying near Ritza. The baby was transferred to the Dell Children’s Medical Center in Austin, where the evaluation determined that the baby was not seriously injured.

Police have not stated how Ritza was killed.

This is the second murder in San Marcos in 2021.
