A man in San Antonio was arrested on federal drug charges after receiving a presidential amnesty

According to the Justice Department, Hilario Nieto, 41, who was once pardoned by President Barack Obama, was arrested along with seven others on charges of federal drug trafficking.

Eight individuals arrested on Tuesday were charged with one count of conspiracies owned with the intention of distributing methamphetamine and heroin. Others have been charged with more crimes than others, officials said.

Previously amnesty, Nieto was arrested in 2004 and sentenced to 248 months in federal prison for drugs in the Western District of Texas. He was pardoned in 2016, officials said.

Defendants are looking somewhere from 10 years to life imprisonment if convicted, officials said.
